DIAMOND DOL-1 RETURNS OFFICIAL BASEBALL AT 3&2 IN 2019
posted 01/11/2019

The Diamond DOL-1 baseball is returning as the official league baseball for 3&2 in 2019.

Over the years, we’ve seen the cost of baseballs skyrocket and felt we needed to find a ball that would meet the needs of the teams in our league for a cost that was more reasonable. This ball will be used at the 1st grade-High School level. The cost is $40 per dozen or $5 per ball. The official league baseball in 2015 was $50 per dozen.

Balls will be available through 3&2 in the following locations:

  • At the main office during normal office hours.
  • At the annual Coaches Clinic on February 9 and all pre-season manager’s meetings.
  • At the field manager’s offices once games begin.
  • Online with pick up at the 3&2 main office.

Balls are now available in the main office.

BRENT KEMNITZ TO SPEAK AT ANNUAL COACHES CLINIC
by posted 01/08/2019

Brent Kemnitz

BRENT KEMNITZ, LEGENDARY PITCHING COACH AT WICHITA STATE

TO BE KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Former Wichita State pitching coach Brent Kemnitz brings his unique perspective on life and baseball to 3&2’s annual Coaches Clinic, scheduled for 7:30am-noon on Saturday, February 9th at 68’s Inside Sports, located at 9111 Flint.

Kemnitz, in addition to his keynote address on “Becoming a Difference Maker”, will also speak on the mechanical and mental side of pitching. You won’t want to miss what Brent has to say, as his brand of humor and wisdom are unmatched.

In Kemnitz’s 38 years as pitching coach, honors, accomplishments and awards for pitchers under his tutelage were commonplace.  Twice Wichita State led all NCAA Division I teams in ERA.  The Shockers’ 1982 team established an NCAA record with 46 complete games while leading the nation with a 2.53 ERA and the 1991 staff led the NCAA with a 2.91 ERA. In 2003 Kemnitz was inducted into the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame.

Under Kemnitz’s care 83 Shocker pitchers have advanced to professional baseball. Also over the years of Kemnitz as the pitching coach, 62 Shocker pitchers have earned all-Valley honors a total of 103 times.  Twelve have earned Valley Pitcher-of-the-Year honors in the 28 years the award has been presented, and WSU has had at least one first-team all-conference pitcher every year but five in the Kemnitz era. Ten pitchers earned Academic All-America distinction a total of 14 times under Kemnitz and 23 freshmen have earned Freshman All-America status.
