Silent Auction at Callahan's West 7PM Culminates BTB Day
by posted 10/12/2018

Come Out Sat. Night for Silent Auction for Nolan

In our effort to provide everyone an opportunity to participate in some way to the Bigger Than Baseball Event, the final activity of the day is a Silent Auction at Callahan's West (Just Across from West Complex), where dozens of donated items from area businesses, individuals and so on will be up for silent auction.  A silent auction is one in which you write your name down on a bid sheet and a bid you'd be comfortable with.  When the open auction time is up, the last one to write their name on the sheet with the high bid wins the item.  You need not be present to win, we'll contact you so just stop by, take a look, bid on something for Nolan and roll on with your evening.  All proceeds go to Team Nolan from the auction.  Thanks to sponsors and donors who contributed items.  Check out the working list (other items may be added!)

We won't be denied our weekend for Team Nolan!  Due to very wet fields at 3&2 and slow drying with the chilly temps, the clinic has moved just down the street to Between the Lines 20,000 sq. ft. indoor facility. We can easily accommodate our campers, coaches, and players helping in this facility from 10-12 tomorrow.  Check in from 9:30-10, then let's get after it at the clinic.

BTL is located at 8190 Hedge Ln Terrace, Lenexa, KS.  Less than 1 mile from the west complex on 83rd west of Highway 7.  Click HERE for directions

We believe by 1PM the outdoor field for skills competitions will be ready and temps will be very comfortable for play.  We will have all our skills competitions outdoors at Freedom Fields #1, right across the street from the west complex.  The ag-lyme based fields there are already playable! The Bigger Than Baseball Softball tourney will be going on throughout the rest of Freedom Fields park and lunch will also be setup at Freedom so please come.

Click HERE for directions to Freedom Fields, but again they are right across the street from 3&2's West Complex.

Lunch and the skills competition is scheduled to begin at 1PM.  Let's rally!

Just show up at Freedom Fields #1 and join in or just drop by to grab lunch from Sombrero's food truck. (all proceeds to Team Nolan)

Lopez Earns Warhurst Memorial Scholarship
by posted 10/10/2018

Gabriel Lopez was recently named the winner of the 2018 Garrett Warhurst Memorial Scholarship. The Garrett Warhurst Memorial Scholarship was established in 2011 as a memorial to Garrett Warhurst, a champion of baseball and participant in the Johnson County 3&2 baseball program. Its purpose is to offer a scholarship that provides financial assistance to qualified, graduating high school seniors. This scholarship exists as the result of the Warhurst’s many family members, friends and acquaintances contributions.

More on Gabriel...

Gabriel stated in his scholarship application “When I look back on my life, so many of my favorite baseball memories have been at 3&2.  I loved drinking ICEEs after each game, playing around during the rain delays, playing basketball behind “The Pit” (Field 9) during my brothers’ games, but most of all, playing baseball with my teammates for many years.  Each of the fields brings back memories because I have played dozens of games at each one.”  Over the years he has even umpired and coached young players at 3&2 summer camps.

In high school, Gabriel played club ball with the Cavaliers and the Shawnee Mission South Raiders baseball team where he was a three-year letter winner.  Beyond sports, Gabriel was involved in National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, D.E.C.A. and earned his Eagle Scout rank.  Gabriel will continue playing baseball for Baker University where he will study business with an emphasis in marketing.
